President Juan Orlando Hernandez, after a tour by car and visit the offices of the Port Operator Central (OPC) announced that it will create an observatory to monitor the performance of the business in the marine cargo terminal.

 

Hernandez arrived by helicopter minutes before the 13:00 to 1:00 soccer field located within the terminal which is under the administration of OPC and then traveled by car to observe the complex investments made by that company.

 

At the conclusion of the tour, the president, in a press conference held outside the offices of OPC, expressed satisfaction with the progress made in modernizing the port terminal now that through the concession is under the control of that subsidiary Filipina International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI).

 

“Puerto Cortés debe ser el puerto más eficiente y competitivo de la región y automáticamente le daremos un flujo de contenedores como nunca antes visto. “Puerto Cortés to be the most efficient and competitive port in the region and we will automatically give a flow of containers like never before. Hernández llegó acompañado por Wilfredo Cerrato, ministro de Finanzas, y Alden Rivera, ministro de la Secretaría de Desarrollo Económico, y en la OPC lo recibió Mariano Torres, director de operaciones de esa empresa. Desde que OPC tomó la administración de la terminal de carga ha instalado nuevas grúas móviles en los muelles, sistemas de seguridad y equipo que permite dar agilidad al desembarco y movimiento de contenedores.
