The port of Guayaquil in Ecuador , is the model that the Port Operator Central ( OPC ) wants to modernize Cortés.

Guayaquil ranks eighth among the 80 most important springs in the region and 86th among the top 100 ports worldwide.

The results obtained in six years under the administration of Contecon Guayaquil SA , a subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. ( ICTSI ), is what is intended to Puerto Cortes .

To achieve this objective , the OPC undertook to regain leadership of the port in the region through the investment of $ 624 million in the first 10 years of operation and $ 1,000 million over the 30 year concession .

John Corum , OPC CEO says that all investments of the terminal not only promote growth and economic development of Puerto Cortés, but also increase employment opportunities for all Hondurans.
